Reykjavik, Iceland

What a great city! Situated on the western shores of Iceland lies the capital and largest city of the country…Reykjavik. Our first visit, and probably our last – but a very nice welcome at every turn. Surprisingly modern and with a young population, Reykjavik is teeming with life, attracting a wealth of tourists during the summer months, when the temps top out at a cool 55 degrees! With Phoenix at a blistering 114 right now, this has been a real treat for us!  We spent a total of 36 hours here – a place where they say was first settled during the 9th   and 10th century when a full-fledged township was developed.
Today, the city itself is very modern and frankly, better in many respects than U.S coastal communities.
